    The "enthusiasm gap" that Nate Silver cited is totally predicated on Dems becoming discouraged by their Congress not doing shit, and GOPers becoming energized because "they stopped the socialist onslaught."

    The best way to keep Dems (and a lot of left-center Indies) in the game is to actually get things done. I think Pres. Clinton was dead on when he made this point at NN. Accomplishments drive approval. Intrasquad pissing leads to defeat.

      for the 111th Congress to get any meaningful legislation passed and that included 2 lame duck months at the end of 2010.

      Little gets passed in an election year, so the Democrats have 4 months to get anything passed and if you subtract out the holiday season from November on, then it's 3 months.

      The Republican tactic of stalling and delay matched with the Democratic notion of bipartisanship, the 111th is not looking good for getting anything done. No wonder the Democratic base, the people who fought for this majority, is getting disillusioned.
