    "9/11 changed everything", remember?

    That 'conventional wisdom' BS of the 1st midterm being a loss for the President's Party is just that. It's BS in this case.

    There's something that has gone on in the overall political climate which is new; the Republicans are bleeding out. Your chart shows it. A snapshot in time shows the Democrats not doing so great, but compared to the Republicans who are at death's door this issue is a no-brainer.

    The campaign ads write themselves. The Republicans will continue to use fear and extreme images, and Democrats really just have to take that same set of images and throw them right back in their faces.

    Americans [but not Kossacks, certainly] are by nature optimistic, while using images of fear might work against a challenger, these types of images and memes are instant death to a Party that has already driven itself to the extreme edge.

    I'd say part of what some of these pundits are playing is the expectations game. I'm not concerned at all about the chances for Democrats overall in 2010.
