You have to talk about the economy. The Democrats will definitely talk about what they have done vis-a-vis the stimulus, and Obama will help with some timely bills and even more timely allocations of funds to relieve the misery. We can at least say "we tried" and promise to work harder.

The Republicans will talk about everything except how to relieve the misery, blame all of the usual suspects, talk endlessly about taking away guns, Obama's birth certificate and penis, and everything but something people can use.  Even worse, they will channel their inner Scrooge to an electorate of Crachits and promise to take away what people already have.

In a serious year, the Republican Party will come across as a not-very-stable set of 2 year olds.
No go. Dems pick up 10 seats in the House and 3 in the Senate, and hold most of the rest.

    •  10 House seats? (0+ / 0-)

I find that hard to believe considering that there are a number of highly difficult seats for us to hold in 2010 (Sestak's open seat and Carney in Pennsylvania, Schuer in MIchigan if they nominate anyone serious other than Walberg, Mitchell in Arizona, possibly Kamanos in Florida, Massa in NY considering the Mayor of Corning is running against him, etc.).

The Senate is possible, but that'll be a tough road to hough given the number of Southern seats up in 2010 (which is what made it difficult for us in 2004).

Ohio, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania as pickups. Ten House seats is just intuition-perhaps some Republicans could retire in blue states or just retire, period.

        •  Just to note... (0+ / 0-)

Technically Pennsylvania isn't a pick-up for 2010.  It feels that way, but the way the caucus is organied it isn't.
