  •  According to Edwin Black (9+ / 0-)

author of "IBM and the Holocaust" modern data processing technology is what greatly enhanced the efficiency of the slaughter.

The killing afterwards is nothing new, the Armenians were killed in the million, the Golden Horde from Asian steppes did a thourough job with swords.

I personally believe that the German laws on citizenship enabled the slaughter. Being born in Germany was not and apparently even today is not sufficient reason to be considered a German.

Isn't that where the birthers want to go? People whose parents were illegal/undocumented etc should not be US citizens. The only fly in the ointment to make this a perfect storm is if they declare that illegal/undocumented entry on US soil has no statute of limitations.

...that German citizenship laws were instrumental in enabling the Shoah is that the overwhelming majority of the victims weren't German.  Fully half the Jews killed in the Shoah were Polish; slightly less than one million were German.

The urge to save humanity is almost always a false face for the urge to rule it. ~ H.L. Mencken
