  •  Can I point to a case.. (0+ / 0-)

where conservatives have used violence and intimidation against dissenting opinion? The history of these kinds of tactics are so broad and deep that I am not sure I have the stamina to type them all. It is from that historical context that I found the first explanation of this event plausible.
I am not familiar with any numerical abstract that shows concrete figures on "actual election related crime" along party lines. Indeed, calling someone to tell them that their voting precinct has been moved or closed may not have been reported as a crime. Yet, I think it is those kinds of behaviors (up to and including murder) that comes from conservatives in order to supress voter turnout. Those numbers are mind-numbing.

    •  OK... so specific incidents of this kind of (0+ / 0-)

      thing?

Remember - I excluded voter suppression.

      •  To be clear here... (0+ / 0-)

You are asking for 'specific incidents' of 'actual election related crime' using violence and/or intimidation against persons or property whose perpetrators intent was not to scare people? And in that equation I am not allowed to include 'supressing the black vote in the south'?
Would you please be more specific about the type of crimes you would include?
I thank you for this chance to engage in a civil dialog concerning this incident. I have begun to feel that we (I?) have started to drift away from the original point of the diary. (Not necessarily a bad thing) I was too hasty in accepting what I thought was a plausible explanation for the event. I have since been proven wrong and I have apologized for my error in judgement in a prior comment. I will restate my apology again. I was wrong and I am sorry.

          Can be to scare people.

          Correct.

Good examples would be smashing the windows of a Democratic Party facility, preparing fire bombs to attack a political convention, disabling cars used in a get out the vote operation, or parading outside a polling place in an obviously partisan way while carrying weapons.

My point is that this kind of activity seems to be mostly confined at this point to the loony left - the kinds of people who wear face masks to demonstrations and join the New Black Panther Party or become transgender activists or identify themselves as "members of the protest community", etc.  The only significant exception are a dying breed of unreconstructed racists, mostly in the South, seeking to limit the black vote.
