  •  What do you think the Insurance Comissioner (1+ / 0-)

    Does?

What magical powers do you think the Lt. Governor has?

Okay, but he's been in office as Insurance Commissioner and Lt Gov for how long, under Democratic and Republican governors and Democratic CA legislatures, and this has never happened

    .

That's not even close to making sense.  From where that stands, "making sense" has become more myth than legend.

    •  Oh, hon, I know what he does, it's what he hasn't (0+ / 0-)

... like putting himself in a job where he could help this happen, and speaking about it during the past two years, not just the past 2 months, and what he intends to do that is more interesting.

But that donation list is just a killer. He's worse than a lot of Congress that's in office already.

in his run for Lt. Gov, but it's not as if he's got some magical power to prevent Arnie from vetoing it a third time.

Personally, I totally get the Carpet Bagger critque.

While I like Garamendi, (and he did do a great job as Insurance Commissioner, getting insane car insurance rates under control and forcing companies to honor policies) I'm not a fan of folks who hop into a district just to advance their carreers.

If I was in the 10th, I wouldn't vote for him unless the only choice a rabid wingnut - 'cause carpet baggers piss me off.

It doesn't make sense to attack the guy for not doing something he had no power to do, though.

        •  He had the power to not use his state account (1+ / 0-)

... to launder lobbyist money for the insurance industry during the time he was mulling over which race to run for, and he didn't.  This is illegal to use state accounts for federal races, and I've diaried and written extensively about a Republican Congressperson who already does this, McClintock of CA 04, and I'm applying the same standard. By hesitating to officially get in the race, he could use that loophole to solicit and use funds from the very industry he says he wants to regulate if he were in a new federal office.

Where have we seen that behavior before ?
