    ...but they are drumming up "support" for their side from JPEGs. Big difference. If they used stock video in their commercials without saying the people in the videos support them, it would be no big deal. But if they have a stock photo or video and have a narrator over the top of it saying "Nancy in Pittsburg runs a flower shop, and she supports clean coal...", it's a total lie. And don't mistake what's happening here: This campaign by FACES is meant to change minds by implying that regular everyday people like those the intended audience interacts with daily support them. If FACES has supporters, why do they need to borrow people from flat images? Why can't they just go get them and tape them?

    The other aspect to this is FACES knows next to nobody would think to check iStockPhoto.com to verify the imagery, so they are tricking the people they are playing to emotionally because their supporters don't appear to actually exist, and the scheme they used is total sleight of hand.

    Use of stock imagery and video is one thing. Using it to imply you have stated, actual support for your cause is the height of dishonesty.
