I'd like to introduce you to the the 21st century.  Most of us live here now, you might like to try it.

The commenter is probably Ghivan herself or some such sympathizer. They love to live in the Victorian cage of corsets and bustles deciding that the be all and end all of women is to conform to some chauvinistically-defined ideal of female decorum. i am an ardent feminist and the likes of Ghivan and the commenter above make me very angry. They never say the same about male public figures.

      •  Why would you think the tmax is Ghivan herself? (0+ / 0-)

There is nothing that I see in previous diaries written by the tmax that indicate a person who is either a fashion writer or one falling into the category of, "They love to live in the Victorian cage of corsets and bustles deciding that the be all and end all of women is to conform to some chauvinistically-defined ideal of female decorum." "They never say the same about male public figures."

Is this any way to win an argument? By accusing a commenter of being Ghivan or a shill for Ghivan?  By making up an imagined persona of a commenter because you don't agree? the tmax was respectful in his/her comments.

worked fine in the Victorian era.  I think we have moved beyond that...at least I hope so.  A woman should wear what is appropriate to what she is doing at the time--just like a man should--whether that means a formal or jeans or a beekeepers suit.
I enjoy fashion, and realize that clothing is important.  I just don't feel that what MO was wearing while on vacation is anything anyone should have made a big whoop about.  If she showed up to a dressy dinner in that outfit, well, ok, fine, lets all throw a fit.  But she didn't.  She is a classy lady, dresses well for each occasion, and doesn't put on airs about who she is.  Refreshing, isn't it?
