  •  Remember the Bush Admin (14+ / 0-)

didn't use the term "HURRICANE VICTIMS" they used their super secret zombiepublican code of

    "refugees"
    "evacuees"
    "homeless"
    "looters"
    "those who refused to leave"

They weren't "victims" to the Admin or the media.

    •  No matter why they were still there. (4+ / 0-)

There were people stuck in New Orleans holding Greyhound tickets out of town that would have left long before the storm struck - if the bus company hadn't canceled service to the city practically before the official watches and warnings began to appear.

Flights stopped, too, not all that long after that, if my understanding of the timeline is correct.

It's hard to evacuate a city when the for-profit transportation options tend to not like routes that only have people on them in one direction, and the planes and buses stop coming when it's understood few sane people would be trying to get in, no matter who's trying to get out.

Hoping and praying that the empty chairs and empty tables in Iran when all is said and done are as few as possible.
