    The ads should each have a link to a discussion. That way the ads the community likes will have an amplifier effect. Extremely valuable to the advertiser. Ads the community doesn't like will have criticisms. Which the advertiser probably won't like, but that's free speech for you.

    Most ads will probably have a mix of pro and con comments in the discussion. Which is exactly what you'd expect in response to any ad popping up in the middle of a public conversation.

    These discussions would make the ads part of the conversation, not an arbitrary interruption to it with no response possible except poking at one's indifferent monitor. It worked on DKos for politics. The ads should follow suit. After all, this isn't TV, it's the Web.
