  •  And their religious leaders are happy with this (4+ / 0-)

There's been no significant pushback from religious leaders to counter those who do things like suggest that Obama should die sooner rather than later.  The megachurch leaders should be condemning this healthcare obstruction if they're truly Christian, but since they're not, they're enabling those who fight against who they claim to be following (Christ).  I'm not a Christian, but even I know what their leader preached, and what it would take to follow those teachings.  I'm not seeing it.

Sorry - just so angry at these bastards.

    •  Megachurch leaders will never condemn this... (5+ / 0-)

behavior, because they share the Republicans' beliefs. They've abandoned the message of the Sermon on the Mount.

Liberal Christians have tried to counters the right-wingers. Ministers like Barry Lynn and Jim Wallis, for instance. The problem is that progressive Christian ministers have nowhere near the resources that the loons with the megachurches have. And there's a reason for that - real ministers aren't in it for the money. They also are granted less media coverage.

Republicans have been accused of abandoning the poor. It's the other way around. They never vote for us ~ Dan Quayle

    •  If those megachurch leaders preached that (4+ / 0-)

their adherents should follow the teachings of Jesus as set out in gospels, their churches wouldn't be "mega" for much longer.  I'm a lapsed Catholic (currently an agnostic) who was subjected to daily readings from the Bible in our Ontario public school system over 50 years ago.  Nothing I've read about the teachings in the megachurches bears any resemblance to what I learned as a kid.  Frankly, I think I'm a better Christian than any of them.
