  •  D.C. Dems are the world's worst debaters (7+ / 0-)

If these people were around in early 1933, they couldn't make the case for lifting Prohibition.

    •  It's not about debate. (10+ / 0-)

It's about spine, courage, standing up for what's right, being willing to take (in this case) something of a minimal chance on re-election potential to do the right thing for the people who are counting on them to do so, who busted ass for them last election cycle.

Co-op is a cop out. It is not an option, let alone a public one.

      •  Stand up (12+ / 0-)

This is the letter I just sent to in, what is becoming, my daily missive.

        Dear Mr. President,

If you stand up for me and my fellow Americans, I will continue to stand up for you. So far, you're making my job pretty difficult.

Stand up for the Public Option and I'll stand up for you.
Stand up for Financial Industry Regulation and Reform and I'll stand up for you.
Stand up against the people responsible for torturing and ruining the good name of this country (not to mention breaking the law) and I'll stand up for you.
Stand up for equal rights for EVERY American and I'll stand up for you.
Stand up to those in government that only have their interests in mind and not the welfare of ALL Americans then I'll stand up for you.

Those of us in my circle of family and friends that voted for you are deeply concerned that you are not standing up for those things that you campaigned on. We want to keep the faith and the hope alive but you are making it hard. We will keep trying (going to a rally in NYC on 9/13) but if the Public Option goes by the wayside what incentive is there. I'm struggling to find the answer.

It's not just the crawling towards Health Care Reform that has me concerned. I want them to start standing up for what is right and stop trying to appease the right.

it's not even an analogy, they literally won't vote for ending prohibition today.
