    Not sure who "McGee" is since you didn't link to anything, but s/he seems to think that "the lord" wrote the bible.

    If one believes that there is a single creator god who is omnipotent and omnipresent, then, in some indirect sense, that's true -- and that god is also turning down all my job applications.

    You can make the message of the quote into "Just as a camel needs god to get through the eye of a needle, so a rich man needs god to get into heaven" -- but then I would wonder why we need to single out the wealthy.  After all, if it's true that "only God can regenerate a man," then why the reference to the rich?

    It may be that McGee is biased toward literalism.  But whether that is true or not, the critique isn't a slamdunk to me.
