I'd love to read an essay from you about what the Maine campaign is doing differently than California,
what lessons you learned, and how you think, if you win, the lessons you learn from the Maine campaign can be transferred back to California to defeat Prop 8.

in California was the assumption that Prop 8 was going to flame out in glory -- first there was the belief that it wouldn't get enough valid signatures to get on the ballot, then the belief that people would see gays and lesbians getting married and life go on as normal. We totally underestimated the anti-equality lobby, especially the LDS Church and their deep pocketed parishioners. Sounds to me like the folks in Maine are taking nothing for granted.

Civility is the way of telling someone to go fuck themselves in such a way that the someone agrees it probably is a good idea.
