  •  Competition between insurance companies and coops (0+ / 0-)

    First, the coops will compete and will keep a lid on at least predatory collusion between insurance companies.  Absent criminal collusion, the free market prevents companies from randomly raising their rates.  I would also point out that most insurance is bought by big corporations who are sophisticated consumers.  This real price provides a clear benchmark for what insurance should cost and if plans in the exchange are dramatically higher, it will be apparent that a scam in underway.
