    When the blue dogs are up for re-election, from conservative districts, they are vulnerable to being targeted by health insurance industry by large campaign contributions to their Republican opponents.  I think the bd's are so adamantly opposed to the public option because they're afraid of health insurance retaliation.    

    What that means is that we progressives end up having to support the blue dogs when they are up for re-election, not attack them.  Those conservative districts aren't going to produce successful progressive candidates anyway -- if so, they would have done so already.  So we have to work with the blue dogs and try to stiffen their spine during these trying pre-re-election times.
