Instead of using that $1.5 milllion to (ever so slightly) upgrade Wilson to a Blue Dog, it could be used to elect an actual progressive somewhere else.

I understand why Wilson's constituents care particularly about this seat, but why should the rest of us?

This is frankly a waste of progressive money....and one which muddies the ActBlue brand.

As so often happens, "more and better Democrats" pretty quickly devolve into "more Democrats"....and that's really not good enough to accomplish much of anything, as we keep seeing these days.

but it sends a signal.  A strong signal.  That Republicans aren't safe.  Anywhere.  Anytime.  And my $50 plus tip is well worth sending that signal.  To me.

      •  This isn't about Republicans. (3+ / 0-)

This is about getting this country moving in the right direction.

And there are some districts that are simply not going to help in that cause.

The Democrats utterly defeated the Republicans last fall, and there's nothing remotely approaching a working progressive majority in Congress.

That's what we should be focusing on, not kicking the GOP some more.

Democrats didn't 'utterly' destroy Republicans, we caught up and passed them for some issues, otherwise we are still in a competition. The next cycle will go towards remedying that. Whether Rob Miller is a blue dog or how much of one he might turn into, I can't say. I looked at his website under issues and didn't find much substance. For now he's an unknown to me. The important thing is that this is a flexing of muscle for the netroots. It puts us covering Obama's back, having snarky fun and disciplining unruly BS. All of that while we capture a few news cycles.

We'll take of progressives, but this is a gift to the netroots. We increased our power big time through this.

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world.

        •  But that's the power of ActBlue (1+ / 0-)

You can focus on that now.  Instead of having to give to the candidates the DCCC or Move On or even Markos puts in front of you, each donor can make their own decisions about who meets their own criteria.

The transparent, real-time fundraising and donation page infrastructure that made this Miller thing work so well?

Same infrastructure that allowed thousands of supporters contributed to support progressive health care legislation at

Different groups of fundraisers, different causes, different donors, but same big impact.

The ActBlue brand is about empowering donors and fundraisers to make their own choices and providing them with the tools to do that.
