and we either change again or turn into a third world country.

at some point enough people who want to aggregate money to the top have to be smart enough to realize a third world country is not as profitable as a country with a robust middle class.

don't let the not so good become the enemy of the nothing at all????

-At this point, they're pretty much totally short term thinking.  Saying "This is a really bad idea in the long term" will not penetrate.

-They cannot believe they could possibly be affected, and really don't care what happens to the bottom.  Oligarchy.

-The American elites are in worse shape than other nations, because they've got 60 years of American exceptionalism clouding their minds.

but yes, i do see there are challenges here.  those same challenges existed before.

eventually, it's just this doesn't have to be that complex.

FDR increased income tax to the point where a middle class became a self-sustaining demographic.

Clinton was no FDR (not by a long shot -- different circumstances) but he raised income tax enough to turn the tide a little bit.

despite history being near absolute on this issue, yes, people would still rather hide their money under their mattress than give it to the government.

Sorry, but the money-aggregators AREN'T that smart, and have to learn by hard experience. Trouble is, the experience is a lot harder for a lot of people who DON'T deserve it.

      If it's
      Not your body
      Then it's
      Not your choice
      AND it's
      None of your damn business!

        they don't learn it.

it's a subtle thing.  enough aggregators learn it or know it.

FDR had a couple allies in business who were able to see where FDR was going and saw some profit in it.

The rest got the new deal rammed down their throat.

it's happened before.  it'll happen again.
