  •  He is forbidden from saying it, but Buy American (6+ / 0-)

made products is the only way to get the economy churning.

A 50% "service" economy is not sustainable, manufactured products and agriculture have to get back in the 60-70% range.

Just look at the digital conversion basically a bailout for overseas electric plants.

There was NO U.S. manufactured in the market, for converters or televisions.

I wish we could get politicians heads out of their rears on this issue.  There isn't one other developed nation that takes this crap about protectionism seriously.  They all have protected industries!  Yet we act like it's a crime when we protect even one industry.  I am so over that.  Trade policy is about as insane as our health policy.  This nation is truly suicidal - we seem hell bent on destroying what remains of the middle class.

There's nothing good to be found there.  US made products ... not too many of those which is exactly why we are in deep trouble:

          No products
          Lots of debt
          No health care policy
          No education policy
          But lots of debt
Rip off industries like the banks and health insurance companies
          But lots of debt

This is the way that a successful nation drags it's people into the muck.

    •  back to the future (0+ / 0-)

now that's change we can hope for.

Forbidden from saying Buy American. Have you read the stimulus bill.  Its all BUY American.  The US is becoming a trade bandit, unilaterally breaking trade agreements right and left.
