  •  Simple filter for robust public choice: (0+ / 0-)

    (1) Publicly administered plan available to everyone faced with an individual mandate to buy from an insurance exchange, at any time they are faced with that mandate.

    IOW, trigger the public option, the mandate waits on the same trigger.

    (2) No limitations placed on the publicly administered plan that are not placed on the corporate for-profit plans.

    IOW, if you want 50 state by state public options, UHC, which has operations in more than one state, cannot be in the exchange (and since you have to offer a plan in an exchange to offer plans on the open market, has to shut up shop). What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
