    ...advantage in the generic to break even, normally? I know it was something like that.

    There's something attractive about invincible ignorance... for the first 5 seconds.

      back in 06 that the dems couldn't take a majority in the House without at least a 10 point advantage in the generic ballot. But I said no way, even just a 5 point advantage would be enough for a narrow majority, and we got 233 seats with a 6-7 point advantage.

      So whatever you heard, don't swear by it.

      It does seems like Dem had a lead in those generic polls, in previous elections, only to do poorly on Election Day and have Republicans keep control of Congress. I'm not sure those polls are accurate, no matter who is leading in them, since so much depends on local races, and specific issues/candidates.
