Well, actually didn't send it to my older brother. Don't want to upset his heart and he's a Sean H. follower.

What's the worst that can happen?

Probably they will not reply but ignore it.

...leave a person so closed to, that daily reality doesn't cross one's mind anymore. Like your mail. Or the library. Or a highway, stop lights, and road signs.

It's nice for a picture to present itself to closed circut, in a straight-forward fashion, in a way that reflects an accurate picture of almost every facet of their everyday life.

It's hard to ignore that nice public road, once someone draws your attention to it. Taking things for granted is a very human comfort. It would be grand if your mailing list recipients consider your e-mail and begin to take some more solid comfort in the real protections and conveniences that are provided by the system.

The post you sent out is a rather neutral listing of services and things, even the most "nostalgic for the olde days" people consider what made America a first-world nation. People expecting to dig all their own roads, put out their own fires, and own a personal doctor if you want emergency care is pretty third-world, after all.

A Democracy irrationally dismissed as an "shadowy unknown evil" because it is hyped as "Socialism" is useful for right-wing ideology pushers because it stops critical thinking. Makes their job as good corporate greed apologists easier, and misdirects unhappy citizen anger about bad conditions to anyone other than the money-grabbing corporations that employ the rumor mongers.

This "Socialism" which is demonized by the few that serve wealthy masters, but not examined by the many who listen to them, has provided the average person with much of what is required for daily life, security, and the pursuit of happiness in this country.

Very courageous of you Gorette, I applaud you for making the effort. It's sometimes easier to "speak truth to power" than to "mention facts to kinfolk."

About the non-response...perhaps even a silence suggests they may be pondering the formerly-ignored facts you've presented as "newly obvious."

Good luck and let us know, your experience with this e-mail education experiment may make a very good diary.
