    the form of corporation most health insurers have in germany, because the same thing does not exist in the american corporate system.

      I just don´t know how to explain it. At least in my eyes their legal form isn´t "private".

        Same problem often with the use of the word "liberal" in Europe as opposed to here.

        Anyway, back to Reid: He was the narrator/on screen personality in a Frontline episode that I saw either late last year or earlier this year, which was based on
        his travels that culminated in this book.

        The documentary is a good complement to the book, because it has more on-camera interviews in each country. And I do recall clearly that in more than one European country, the insurance companies are a hybrid of for-profit/non-profit. That they are required to offer basic coverages as a non-profit, but can supplement it with enhanced coverage on a for-profit basis....

        But it is always government who negotiates and sets prices.
