    I remember the Santa Anas in 1967 and '68.

    But by November, they're over, largely. The condition comes up, but it's not nearly as hot,a nd the winds aren't as strong. It's responsible for the middle of winter warm spells that can reach into the 80s in January... long enough to trick the peach trees (etc) into thinking it's spring, and blow all the smog in L.A. out to sea. Coupled with some rain, you can suddenly see the L.A. Basin's staggering natural beauty... before it slides back into its smoggy wrapper.

    We don't think/talk about the Santa Anas much out of season. Sort of like thinking about tax season...
