and i'd hardly say they consider it to be a "policy nuisance," but unemployment always has been and always will be a lagging indicator; i can't see what they're supposed to do about that inconvenient economic reality.
talking about how bad unemployment is every second of every day isn't going to change how economic indicators work, all they can do is put in place policies that they believe will help create jobs, tell people why it will work, and wait for it to work; that sounds like exactly what they've been doing. obviously that's not much solace to somebody who is out of work and suffering, but i'm not sure what else they can really do eight months in.

OH NOEZ!! Obama is a huge gigantous failure!! Obama=Bush's 3rd term! OH NOEZ!! Make Sarah Palin President instead! /snark.

    •  That's true, but remember that moment in Obama's (0+ / 0-)

speech when he said he wouldn't sign a bill that added a dime to the federal debt?

"Don't you dare bring me a bill that's going to cost any American jobs.  Not even a few. There is no need for that, no need whatsoever."

When you have no hope, it helps to believe that powerful people are on your side, even when there's not a lot they can do.

The best antidote, of course, is for the numbers to go down.  If people are working, the Congressional Democrats could all be exposed as space alien zombies who feed on toenail clippings and chihuahuas without losing any seats.

Free speech? Yeah, I've heard of that. Have you?
