  •  Can't you guys see the reality, there will be no (0+ / 0-)

If Obama only gets 5% approval in Israel, how could a politician like Bibi see any value in appeasing him.

Hopefully the smoke and mirrors end soon, without UN Peacekeeper we are all kidding ourselves.

Plus I heard Obama conceded a halt to settlements?

      NO NO NO NO

Hey got anymore GOP like talking points. Look at the poll again? Better yet, rather than read talking points - look at the poll in the first place.

It is not approval, the question:

The poll also found that 64 per cent of Palestinians still feel Obama's policy is more supportive of Israel, while 40 per cent of Israelis think it is more support of the Palestinians.

The poll's margin of error was 3 per cent.

The one you linked to (from August) has 12% of respondents stating that they believe Obama supports Israel. Yesterday on the RM show an interviewee cited a poll (reportedly released that same day) in which only 4% agreed with that same statement. I almost fell off my chair. I was told by an Israeli Kossack (someone incidentally very fond of Obama) that the poll was published by a Fox-like establishment, but that the large majority of Israelis are indeed quite hostile to Obama. I am desperately looking for evidence to the contrary, if you want to "talk me down"?

(btw, hope it's okay that I'm butting in. I frequently read the I/P diaries but don't always participate in the often heated discussions :) )

to look at the questions and what the responses were.

I believe the number of approval was 31% last I saw but that the majority of Israelis feel that the President support the Palestinian position more.

I think it is how the Cairo Speech got framed right away by the Israeli Right. They completely skipped his understanding of the Holocaust and his call for Non-violence. The Neo-cons did a nice hit job on the President. BUT... When Netanyahu comes up with this about his positive speech. So who knows. I take it as a good sign.

should have everyone a bit 'concerned' - not like scream from the rafters that obama is sending the israelis down the river or the israelis despise obama concerned - but more like the president needs to speak directly to the israeli people. but my guess is that this will happen soon.
