    closed hospitals.

    They wouldn't "have to make a profit".

    That would allow many people to remain in their homes, rather than enter expensive nursing homes. It would prevent many poor rural people from dying because the nearest hospital now was 100 miles away or they didn't take people without insurance who had unpaid bills.

    Single payer WORKS. Its better, even Obama admits that. Its free, so NO surprises, NO adverse selection problem, no age, child or premium taxes.

      only those public clinics and hospitals that satisfy a cost/benefit analysis?  IOW, public health for some or some medical services would be cheaper to provide as an out-of-network care and reimbursed at Medicare rates.
