  •  Need open enrollment, not just the unemployed (6+ / 0-)

    The public option as currently proposed in the Senate and as described in Obama's speech is still unacceptable because persons eligible for employer-based insurance would not be allowed to enroll in it.  This is a disaster for anyone older than 50.  Employers are discriminating against and laying off older workers because of the fear that their health care costs will increase premiums.  Older workers need to be able to tell employers they don't need employer-based health insurance because they are getting it from the government.  This isn;t just about health care.  It is also about jobs.  Obama and the Senate still seem to refuse to understand the financial reality of people older than 50.

      to see how that veto pen hand shakes.
      Could you imagine him vetoing a bill that is too strong, especially when it follows his campaign promises.
      I doubt Obama has the guts to veto his own bill.
