The only reason I brought the blue whale story up is because tossing around old canards was already on the table. The diarist was trying to debunk a myth. I decided to respond with a little levity and debunk a different myth. And I did say it was the whiny hard core vegans, not all vegetarians that spew that garbage. But you apparently didn't read my comment or understand it very well. Your problem, not mine.

    •  telling the diarist to "get a grip" (0+ / 0-)

is a tad bit aggressive, no?

      •  especially given (0+ / 0-)

that you immediately proceeded to do basically the same thing by expressing your own frustration about people using untrue claims to push their dietary agenda.

          that hole you're in?

In my experience the only people that make the "Hitler was a vegetarian claim" and expect it to be taken seriously are the moral equivalent of the "eating meat is murder" crowd. He tossed the first canard, I threw one right back. I could probably find you a hundred vegetarian/vegan blogs that quote the "blue whale" lie as gospel -- same silliness, different direction. And no, "Get a grip" is "chill out" or "relax". If you think that is aggressive may I suggest a better thesaurus. So a fun little discussion was had by most people on the thread. Seriously, the diarist tipped me and engaged in the levity of the discussion. That is standard DK etiquette. Engage the enemy with a disarming fact, or humor, make your point. I know when I blow my top it never ends well.

You, on the other hand, seemed to find great personal offense in what happened. That is out of my control. I really am not the enemy, if you read the rest of my replies on this diary or elsewhere on DK you'd know that. So, are you going to stop digging or is the ladder looking appealing right about now?
