  •  Could it be that Steele has a plan? (6+ / 0-)
    1. Get fired for saying something reasonable and rational.
    1. Quit the Republican Party, saying that it is no place for a black man.
    1. Use the publicity as a launching platform for a run as a Democrat.

Hmm, what seat would Steele be interested in?

Remember when he said that Limbaugh's antics were "incendiary" and "ugly," and he had to apologize?

STEELE: So if I do something, there’s a reason for it. Even, it may look like a mistake, a gaffe. There is a rationale, there’s a logic behind it. [...]

Q: There’s a rationale behind Rush, all that stuff?

STEELE: Yup, yup. ... I want to see what the landscape looks like. I want to see who yells the loudest. I wanted to know who says they’re with me but really isn’t. ... It helps me understand my position on the chess board. It helps me understand, you know, where the enemy camp is and where those who are inside the tent are.

It's all part of his master plan.

    •  This is my theory... (0+ / 0-)

I'm thinking he wants out now.

Think about it: Even conservative African-Americans probably have certain experiences that will set them apart from conservative whites. Putting aside the argument of how any sane AA could possibly be a conservative after the right's racist history, Steele probably has finally come to the realization that he's been had big time. He says all the right things 90% of the time but when he occasionally says something that's actually real about the AA experience, he gets in trouble and now it's probably dawned on him just what kind of a Deal With the Devil he's made -- how many bona fide racists he's now found himself surrounded by and how many now are married to this organization.

Now he's trying to get himself canned. However, I don't think it'll be as easy or as quick as he'd like.
