• ##### A comment about the poll?(4+ / 0-)

Yes I know a lot of polls here have Pi(e) as a selection - that's irrational.

• ##### I love what a famous mathematician(3+ / 0-)

said about that equation to his graduate students: "Gentlemen, that is completely counterintuitive, we can't claim to understand it, but it is proved, and therefore must be correct."

I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones. (John Cage)

• ##### Am I wrong(0+ / 0-)

When I thought that this equation only expressed the derivative of sin as it crosses 0 when diminishing?

Perhaps I will need to do more reading.

• ##### Which is Euler's identity(3+ / 0-)

or Euler's equation, considered by some to be the most beautiful mathematical relation because:

a) It includes all three basic arithmetic operations (addition, multiplication, and exponentiation or raising something to a power)

b) It contains all 5 basic mathematical constants: 0, 1, pi (the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter), e (the natural logarithm base) and i (the imaginary operator or square root of -1).
