  •  That is cool, a preserved site (1+ / 0-)

Downthread I expressed a moment of guilt about my fossil collection (and got an attack by a troll) but I would like to see fossil sites preserved and not pick-and-shoveled up. I have only done that on roadcuts and quarry walls. I also understand that inquisitive kids and adults who have "the eye" to spot trilobites or four leaf clovers should get some reward for the noticing.

Do you remember the park name?

    •  It's Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park (0+ / 0-)

....It's near the kinda-ghost-town of Ione, Nevada and there are also displays that deal with the mining going on there-imagine the miners in the 19th century, throwing "worthless" fossil bones over their shoulder while digging for silver!
The place is about 50 or 75 miles off of Route 50, literally the middle of nowhere.  Bring water.  The phone won't work.
