  •  The way Charlie Crist is raising money indicates (0+ / 0-)

that he will be a serious serious candidate for 2016.

He won't run for 2012, but you can bet your bottom dollar that he will run and win his party nomination in 2016, and will be a tough candidate to beat.

Don't give a damn a/t each & every politician currently alive in the US. Last time i voted for the top part of the ballot was 1972. Never missed SB election

    •  Just one more thing about Crist and 2016, (0+ / 0-)

if Cuomo does not run for governor and he won't be well positioned to counter Crist in 2016.

Anybody Republican currently elected will be tainted by the garbage going on right now.  The Republican Party is still in it's death spiral - Huntsman was smart to get out of the country (on a very key China ambassador gig) and Jeb Bush is laying low, passing on the Florida Senate gig that he could have had if he wanted it because his name is still good in Florida.

        •  If you have noticed, Crist has stayed way above (0+ / 0-)

the fray. He even called those who doubt Obama citizenship crazy.

As for Jeb, he isn't that popular down here at all. Crist is, enormously popular. If he choose to run, Florida is off the table and for good.

          •  But he hasn't lead either... (0+ / 0-)

I think the question that will dog current Republicans who want leadership roles in the future will be "Where were you in 2009-2010?"

Crist has stayed above the fray and I think he would be willing to do more however he's getting the Rubio challenge from the right.  Maybe he'll take a leadership role after he is elected into the Senate, maybe he'll look to work constructively with the White House and not buy into the "party of no" strategy.

Crist will have to make his move soon after he defeats Rubio in the primary - Call for real engagement with the Obama Whitehouse and not this obstructionist bent the Senate is on now.  If he said that while still a candidate I think folks would stand up and take notice.

            •  That is actually a smart move. Stay out of the (0+ / 0-)

news, especially the bad one. Wins his seat to the senate. Then introduce some bills, without a chance of passing (as for leadership, he was a governor of Florida for 2 terms) to shore up his conservative credentials.

He does not have to work 100% with the white house. All he has to do is cross the partisan line in one or two issues. I expect him to do that in education and defense. Other than that, he will have 80 to 90% GOP score, which position him very well for the primaries.

The question is the dems need to think about a serious candidate with a record, a serious one. Cuomo has to run for governor and has to win. In 2016, he will be in a great position.

Unless he or the Republicans change their ways there's no way in hell Crist would be their nominee.
