    I may have told you this before.  I know of a couple of instances where colleagues of mine ended up in meetings where local authorities were trying to decide whether to prosecute when a child was killed.  In one case, (florida if my memory serves) a guy let his kid ride in the front-end loader while going down the road.  Kid fell out and was run over.  My friend in on the discussions said it was quite heated and centered around the need to use it "as an example" and the desire to let the family alone as they had sufferd enough.  In the end they didn't charge him.
