    I have been following this for years.  An invasive plant species has taken over miles and miles of the Mediterranean coastal sea beds, destroying marine life.  Of course, this massively disrupts the ecosystems and bio-diversity.  Actually, it kills both where ever this invasive plant takes over.

    And, now it is found off the Pacific Coast, too.  Here's a video clip of the Mediterranean problem:

    And the suspected culprit for spreading invasive species throughout the world?  The infested ballast water of cargo ships.  Ah, globalization!  You just have to love it.

    Of course, people doing silly things like dumping aquarium water along with the plants in it, carting snails/plants from one part of the world to another, and scientists introducing an insect to eradicate an invasive plant are all helpful hands hurrying along the threats of invasive species.

    Poverty does not mean powerless. Unite!
