month.  But at the end of the day, there will be a bill, there will be a filibuster, and there will be a cloture vote.  If she is willing to buck her leadership and give a nod to her constituents' wishes and the need for reform, she may well vote for cloture.  If not, then we are in exactly the same position we were four hours ago--needing our entire caucus on board.  Either way, her trigger idea has zero traction with anyone other than her staff and Firedoglake, and I doubt her vote today changes that.

I'mma let you finish, Barack, but the teabaggers have done about the most for international peace of all time.--The collective GOP 10/9/09

    •  we're not in a situation where the democrats are (2+ / 0-)

writing the bill they want, and she simply has a choice whether to vote for it or not.  today's vote pretty much ensures that her voice will be extremely important when it comes to merging the HELP and SFC bills and in the conference committee negotiations.  of course, she won't actually get to sit in these meetings, but negotiations will be limited by what is what is acceptable to snowe.  if she really wants the trigger and is willing to draw a line in the sand, we will get a trigger.
