  •  Yes, although "Leonardo" was his only name at (0+ / 0-)

    birth.  He was born out of wedlock, and at some point his father Piero acknowledged him by naming him "Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci."  

    While we're picking nits, it's a small "d" in "da Vinci."  We call him Leonardo da Vinci to avoid confusion with Leonardo Dicaprio.

      how did he refer to himself as an adult.  I only had one art history course as an undergrad, so I don't know these things, but did he sign his work? (I'm guessing not)  Do we have his signature from letters, diaries? Did he say, "with love, Leo?"
      Or did he sign the whole- Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci"
