    the Drugwar was the primary vehicle used to justify expansion of policestate powers. Come 2000, efforts to enact "Sneak and Peak' searches under the guise of a meth bill foundered in the House Judiciary Committee.

    Now, in order to pass DrugWar escalation legislation, they have to hide it in terrorism bills. We're, slowly, winning in the Congress.

    Yesterday's formalization of the medical marijuana State deternmination policy was driven not by the Administration, but by the Jouse passing Dave Obey's language in the Justioce Dept appropriation, lifted from the Hinchey/Rohrabacher Amendment to past Judiciary appropriations. A Republican led effort to strip this language failed.

      If you want to look at the erosion of personal freedom and privacy follow the drug scare outrage of any given time. Pot, acid, cocaine, crack, meth, each drug coming on as the one before it is demonized and ironically each drug is worse for you than the one that preceeded it.
