    Like all things, it's sometimes solid, sometimes not.  For some reason, I bet on you to know the difference!

    Also, I think it's good to complicate history. Because it is complex, and, as you point out here, the history of slavery, the cultural construction of race, and the racist legacies of slavery are still very much with us – in complicated ways.

    It's the telling of simplistic stories about racism being a relic of the past, or how racism is only the province of the rabid right-wingers that hurts us.  

    I am grateful for the fact that you give us deeper narratives.  I constantly learn from your work.
