Sure Obama's race factor into it, but let's not forget that White Southren Democratic Presidents have been hated as well. Carter and Clinton generated a lot of crazy hostility that bore no relationship to their actual policies and they continued to be reviled today, long after they have left office. Some may argue that if Obama was a white guy that some of the over-the-top hatered might not be there, but I'm not so sure. Fox news and the right-wing noise machine has rampted up the crazies. I don't think a President H. Clinton or for that matter President Biden would be getting anymore love from the South then Obama.

Sure, they hated themselves some Clinton, to the point of the Vince Foster CT.

But even then, it was just never as hot -- it took years to boil to the level that six months of Obama has produced.

          •  My Point is that the Hate Machine has Matured (0+ / 0-)

I am certain there would have been Tea Parties for a White President. In fact considering that the real core of the Tea Parters (not the Republicans trying to co-opt the movement) are Ron Paul supporters and don't like the Republicans much more than the Demcorats and that blame Bush and establishment Republicans for the Wallstreet bailout, I bet there would be Teapartys even if McCain was President, especially since many of them incorrectly think he is RINO. However, they won't be getting the boost from Fox.
