  •  As I noted, accessible machines should be used (0+ / 0-)

    only by those who need them, not by everyone. When used by those who need them to vote independently, the benefits probably outweigh the security risks. When used by others, it's the other way around.

    As I also noted, ballot printers are susceptible to denial- and delay-of-service attacks, ballot presentation attacks, and selection attacks (at least). That a voter may "verify" the resulting ballot doesn't prevent any of these attacks.
