but I would argue that bin Laden, if he is anywhere, is cowering in a cave and is far less effective than he was in 2001.  I am no fan of Bush and Cheney but it is wrong to say that Osama bin Laden "defeated" America.

The fight still goes on.  And I think it's pretty clear Osama is dead.

I am really enjoying my stimulus package.

Victory or defeat will only be determined in the end.

In the world today, the only way to defeat a super power is to destroy its economy. Bin Laden does not need to live to succeed. If we had kept going down the same moral path laid down by Cheney he (bin Laden) would actually benefit from dying – as a martyr.

Every nasty lie and half-truth Bin Laden spread about America was reinforced by the actions of Bush and Cheney. So I think Bin Laden won the PR battle from 2003-2009. Amazing considering in September of 2001 everybody was on our side except the actual terrorists.

I do think we came very close to an economic collapse under the stewardship of the Bush-Cheney regime. Fortunately they could not keep control for a third term.

I think Obama's greatest achievement on the world's stage is that America is now regarded as a positive force. Sure there is still greed and corruption and two wars but in the main our allies and enemies are more likely to work toward solutions now that we have moved away from the Bush Doctrine.
