The fights that matter have never been waged based on probability of success.

      •  We wont have affordable without single payer (0+ / 0-)

We should know that, because it would cost TRILLIONS that has not been discussed yet, and would cut into that huge military budget, 52% of all Federal spending, (its $4500 a year for each of us)

Obama has proposed an additional $260 a year for each of us to help make healthcare affordable, but the gap is still many thousands of dollars for each of us.

See the problem! Its like saying, we want to live in a BIG private insurance house, (with a big mortgage you can't afford, thats the 30-50% they take) but not having the money, unless you figure out a way to get someone else to pay for it.

Instead, why dont we live in a smaller house, with better quality healthcare, pay for it nationally, like the best countries do, thats MUCH cheaper, so we get rid of the armies of clerks, get rid of the bills, and dont give a third to a half to the insurance companies to absolve the government of responsibility when they decide to spend less than they should and screw up. Instead, we have healthcare for rich and poor. Jobs are vanishing, we can't control that, so we tie the quality of the rich and powerful people's healthcare to that of the poors, so they will make sure that we all get decent healthcare, even as jobs vanish and more and more people become redundant as we approach the day when machines do everything (around 2045, according to Ray Kurzweil)

we all know that a single payer system would be the most equitable, affordable efficient, secure system giving the Americans complete choice of provider.  But it aint in the card at this point in our history.  If we can get a solid public option that can eventually be expanded, that is the best route toward single payer.  The US will never have a PURE single payer system and honestly, few nations on the globe have a pure single payer system any more.  The idea is that 70-80% of any country will choose a single payer system over private insurance, but there will always be 20-30% who prefer a private system and they can have it if they want it.  We are on the road to getting a single payer system for any American who wants it.  And that's the truth.

Health care is a human right.
