If you can't fix it with a hammer, then you've got an electrical problem.

many people away and tends to limit true debate over controversial subject matter. It has already  had, as far as i can see anyway, a truly chilling effect and contributes to a lot of the irrelevance and repetition that creeps in.

That does not prevent the site from being most instructive and entertaining if that is one of the reasons people come, but it certainly detracts from serious dialogue and debate.

Frankly I don't care much one way or the other, as i take neither myself nor the site that seriously, except when I do. Which is sometimes.

      •  That isn't what drove me away. (6+ / 0-)

What drove me away is the holier than thou attitude that so many seem to take on as soon as they become a trusted user, and that in itself has taken on a whole nother meaning, since I joined this site.

I post very little here now, but I continue to read.

The HRing is really silly, too many folks have gone way out there in their desire to be able to do so.  It has become a distraction instead of a tool.

      •  Well stated. (6+ / 0-)

Most of the HR's are for differences of opinion. Even if a "red stater" shows up, it should be easy enough to overwhelm them with facts and figures, reality and science having a liberal bias.

The HR's will most likely increase as those prone to HR abuse will now have a new rationalization for bad behavior.

What jumped out was the COMPLEXITY of the new rule, truly an animal designed by committee.

the Public Option is going to emerge.

Maybe they could have saved a lot of time and money and just had us all design it.

All they had to do is ask. Doesn't the Obama WH understand how incredibly brilliant we all think we are?

Actually I keep coming back because it is teaching me conflict resolution. Actually I mean that seriously. At least it is helping me learn how to argue with my 13/10/7 year old grandkids.

I've discovered that 'Because' doesn't hack it in this modern world.
