    See if daily yogurt doesn't help the first side effect. You can also find straight acidophiles in pill form OTC. Helps put the good bacteria back in your intestinal system.

      may need to chime in, but I've heard that to be effective the aciophilous needs to be the refrigerated kind, that the tablet/capsule form is inactive. Which is why yogurt works, I guess. But I am NOT a doctor or pharmacist and I don't even play one on TV, so take that for what it's worth.

        But you are right about consulting with a knowledgeable person. However I first heard the information from a retired nurse - too often MDs don't 'bother' with helpful, non-pharma advice.  

        One thing I do know, is many antibiotics can be toxic to your hearing (as in losing it), so one should read the fine print or ask pharmacist, BEFORE the filled prescription is handed to you over the counter.  You can also check Wikipedia for a list of side effects.
