    Back in June of this year I was out with my daughter on Boston Common, and suddenly realized that it was the Boston Pride Parade.  I held her on my shoulders and we watched all the people, and I thought about so many of my friends who put up with so much crap, and about the ones who died, and about the ones who lived in fear and shame for far too long...I wrote about it in this diary.

    ...and I remembered my friend Chris Murphy, who was an openly gay teenager in a neighboring 1973.  He coped with the bigotry — with humor, a razor-sharp wit, and profound musicality.
