Of all the races yesterday, I think that NY23 deserves to be studied the most. On one hand, it could be just an aberration where a democrat was elected because of a split in the republican vote. Alternately it is possible that the NY23 electorate was so adverse to the extreme right wing, that even some Republicans voted for a Democrat. Another alternative point of view is that moderate Republicans just stayed home, not unlike Virgina and New Jersey Democrats.

What ever the reason for the NY23 results, when a district the NEVER goes Democratic goes Democratic something is going on and it would be wise to find out exactly what happened there. On the New Jersey and Virgina election results, I agree totally with KOS.

because the conservative party candidate eviscerated the Republican candidate. It was enough to kill off the Republican (who was more liberal than the Democrat) but the conservatives were too fragmented to defeat the Democrat.

The dynamics of that race should be studied, but I don't think any far reaching strategies can be determined from it.
