blogs.  It will make you and us feel better but when it comes down to it nothing will be done.  The American people are statisfied with what happened.  Obama won't push for prosecution because of the precedents it would set and tie his and future President's hands.

sorry, but I want to see something to back up blanket statements like this one:

The American people are statisfied with what happened.

Necessity is the mother of revolution...

longer time goes by the least likely something will be done.  I would like to see something that says they aren't statisfied.  There are polls saying the vast majority are against torture, you can even have demostrations that are well attended.  But yet nothing really happens. Discouraging.

criminals who did this shit have all passed away unpunished the worst case scenario will be a clear record that tens of thousands of Americans rejected the torture that was done in our name, and that we sought to see those who authorized and commited that torture brought to justice.

Sounds to me like that's worth the time.

A vast guilt to the horror of imprisoning our own citizens.  Reparations paid and apologizes.  But, what some don't realize is that the case was never overturned and the wide powers exercised by the executive branch are still in place.  The test for us is not what we do in 50 years it's what we do when it's happening.

...for Pinochet, who was reduced in the end to pleading he couldn't stand trial because he was gaga. Of course, it would have been better if he had been tried. But in a pinch, any humiliation will do.

Kids saying "not all Americans agreed" will matter, in the end.

The same way we can take pride in the few who opposed the war in Phillipines, even if they accomplished virtually nothing.
