    While accurate statistics are important, and this should be looked into, by looking at the trend we can see that things are improving.  Assuming the same mistakes in methodology continue to be reflected in the statistics, they should be accurate relative to one another, even if inaccurate in absolute terms.  

    The economy is in very bad shape, and probably worse shape than is currently being reflected by things such as the stock market.  That said, it appears to be improving a bit from how it was previously.  

    Don't like XOM and OPEC? What have YOU done to reduce your oil consumption? Hot air does NOT constitute a renewable resource!

      Usually after falling off a cliff, when you hit bottom, you get a bounce or two.   Means the freefall is over.  Of course, it is possible we just hit a ledge projecting from the side of cliff rather than the bottom.  Hopefully not.
