please tell me -- why is the military in general pro Republican?

Why do so many in the military vote against their own -- and the country's - best interests?

    •  I think it's tradition and habit. (5+ / 0-)

The Republican platform was often quoted over the years as "Lower Taxes, Strong Defense, Small Government" or words to that effect -- meaning, they supported military spending more than Democrats.

Somehow that got tangled up in history, and now people believe that Democrats are weak and don't support the troops.

Yet, I believe more of our elected officials served than theirs did.

here as "being at the bottom end of the socioeconomic spectrum" vote for their slumlords and the guys thart run the company store? People are stupid, including the "liberals" and "progressives" (the ones who actually care, as opposed to the fake-Democrats in wolves' clothing) who can't figure out how to re-brand and re-frame and re-mind these people that it was "progressive" folks from Eugene Debs and FDR and suchlike that brought safe workplaces and maybe better wages and at least a temporary re-balance of the clout of haves against the work-for-the-haves.

In case you haven't followed it, the brass are pretty uniformly in the Red camp, either out of natural inclination, promotion of like-minded people, the fact that WAR and WAR PROCUREMENT are not generally "liberal" activities, fear of voicing honorable thoughts (see Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler's telling description of what he and the military did and do). Show any blue in among the Red and White, and you are non-retained, or you get a "GI party" in the barracks.

Good luck fixing any of this.
